Well Completion Tools and Flow Control Tools.

Our equipment is offered in various material configurations for a variety of well con- ditions. In this catalog, the default temperature rate of the tools is 300°F. The following allows and groups of alloys are currently the most common on materials used for the con- struction of the packers and other tools. Usually, our product use the material as follows:

Standard, non-corrosive service -low alloy steels(e.g., 4140 or Chinese 42CrMo) with mechanical properties compatible with API P110 tubulars.

Non‐corrosive service containing H2S -Low alloy steels (e.g., 4140 or Chinese 42CrMo) with mechanical properties compatible with API L80 tubulars.

Corrosive CO2 service with little or no H2S -Martensitic and PH stainless steels (e.g., 9Cr, 13Cr, 17-4PH) with mechanical properties that vary from 80 ksi to 110 ksi minimum yield strength. The selection of the specific corrosion resistant alloy depends on the environment (pH, chlorides, temperature, H2S, etc.) and strength requirements.

Severely corrosive CO2 and H2S -Nickel alloys such as 718 at strength level of 110 ksi minimum yield strength and higher.

For temporary work, followed by milling operations to remove the product: Cast iron or polymer composites should be used. The following symbols indicate that this product can work in this environment by changing the materials of the components:

The Model SMA single string Mechanical Production Packer is a retrievable, double-grip compression or tension-set production packer that holds pressure from above or below. Once set, the tubing string can be left in tension, compression, or in a neutral position. A large internal bypass reduces the swabbing effect during run-in and retrieval, and closes when the packer is set. When the packer is released, the bypass opens first, allowing the pressure to equalize before the upper slips are pulled from the casing. The Model SMA also features an upper slip releasing system that reduces the force required to release the packer. A non-directional slip is released first, making it easier to release the other slips. These flexible features allow the SMA to be run in a variety of applications ranging from Production Packer to Bridge Plug to Service Packer.

The Wireline Stem, also called a weight bar, is used to add weight to the wireline toolstring to counteract the wellbore pressure, allowing the easy descent of the toolstring. It is also used to increase the effectiveness of jarring operations.

Wireline Stem

Wireline Stem

The Wireline Roller Stem is a tool used in the wireline workstring to minimize the effect of friction caused by the toolstring sliding on the tubing wall during wireline work in deviated wellbores.

Roller Stems consist of standard sinker bars with slots to accommodate simple rollers held in position with captive dowel pins.

The Knuckle Joint is designed for applications where toolstring rotation and/or deflection is required. It is most useful in fishing operations, where the pulling tool or overshot requires flexibility to properly locate the fish.

Knuckle Joint

Knuckle Joint

The Knuckle Jar provides a range of motion that helps to make the toolstring more flexible. Because the Knuckle Jar has a stroke, it can also be used for light jarring.

Knuckle Jar

Knuckle Jar

The Tubular Jar, through wireline manipulation, can be used to provide an upward or downward impact. The intensity of the jarring impact depends on the weight of the wireline stem above the jar, the stroke length of the jar, and the density of the well fluid. The perforated body of the Tubular Jar allows fluid bypass, reducing the effects of the well fluid density on the jarring impact.

Tubular Jar

Tubular Jar

Wireline Link Jars, sometimes called ‘Spang Jars’ or ‘Mechanical Jars’ are of the cable tool type, and utilize the weight of the stems connected immediately above, to deliver effective jarring impacts, by manipulating the wireline upwards or downwards at the surface. The effectiveness of these impacts is largely dependant on the weight of the stem used, the length of the stroke of the ‘jars’, the size and straightness of the tubing, the viscosity of the fluid in the tube, and the well pressure acting upon the cross sectional area of wireline. ‘Jars’ are composed of two pieces linked together, rather like long chain links, which are free to be extended or collapsed (stroke).

The Wireline Intensifier is a wireline stretch simulator device used in conjunction with hydraulic or spring jars when jarring at shallow depths in the wellbore. The wireline intensifier is available in sizes from 1-1/4” to 3” OD.

Upward tension, on the wireline compresses the spring, within the intensifier assembly and the stored energy, is transferred to the hydraulic or spring jars, located further down the toolstring.

A combination of surface wireline tension, and the energy stored within the spring of the accelerator, will eventually cause the hydraulic or spring jar to fire, thus completely releasing the energy stored within the spring. The tension of the wireline can then be relaxed and the operation repeated, until the subsurface tool is jarred free.

The Wireline Shock Absorber is used to dampen the shock transmitted to delicate downhole instruments being run into the wellbore during wireline operations.

The Wireline Shock Absorber basically consists of a fishneck, main body, upper spring, mandrel, lower spring and bottom sub. The lower spring is usually the heavier of the two springs, in that it is constantly compressed by the weight of the instruments, normally suspended immediately below the shock absorber. The mandrel floats between the upper and lower springs and absorbs shock; therefore, protecting the delicate downhole instruments.

The Fluted Centralizer is a wireline tool designed to ensure that the workstring running or pulling tool is at its most central position, especially during operations in deviated wells.

Normally attached to the toolstring just above the running/pulling, or fishing tool, the OD is machined to suit the ID of the tubing in which it is to be run. This allows the tool to be used as a tubing drift, or gauge in addition to centralizing the toolstring.

The Sand Bailer is a pump action type bailer, designed to remove sand and small debris in the tubing string, through the upward stroking motion of the pump section. Sand and debris are held in the load barrel through the use of different style check bottoms. A large percentage of wireline service involves sand bailing, prior to the actual pulling or setting of subsurface flow controls.

The ‘Baiting’ Type Bulldog Spear is used to retrieve (fish) wireline tools lost in the wellbore that do not have a conventional fishing neck and are therefore, best fished with an internal spear.

The spear is run on a ‘GS’ running/pulling tool and speared into the fish. In the event the fish cannot be pulled, the ‘GS’ running/pulling tool will shear its pin and release. This will leave an internal fishing neck ‘looking up’, to enable further fishing attempts. The fish is then said to be baited.

The ‘Baiting’ Type Bulldog Spear has an optional Engagement Stop Ring (shown) available on request.
